RANDY PIPER SUPPORTS THE HENDRIX MUSIC ACADEMY
Tina Hendrix Music Academy

HENDRIX MUSIC ACADEMY MISSION:
The mission of the Hendrix Music Academy is to provide Music Education, Intervention and Mentoring programs to At-risk youth so that they can acheive their highest potential as musicians, leaders and global citizens. The Hendrix Music Academy is a place that gives young people the opportunity to learn how to express themselves musically, in an educational and safe environment. It is our belief that if we give the youth of our community a “voice,” we can reduce their participation in illegal activities and violence. Youth will learn how to create and record their own musical expressions. Youth participants will work as a team and learn important social skills while learning about music production in a professional recording studio.
Left to Right: Jerry O'Day, Randy Piper, Tina Hendrix (Niece of Jimi Hendrix), Roger Fisher (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - Class of 2013), Alan White (YES) and Leon Hendrix (Brother of Jimi Hendrix).

About Julie Kathan
In early September 2011, Julie Kathan seemed like a typical, healthy 53-year-old woman. But she wasn’t. She was living with Glioblastoma Multiforme – an aggressive and terminal brain cancer. By late September, she was experiencing mental blurriness. After a trip to the emergency room and emergency surgery, a cancerous tumor was revealed. She was given less than a year to live.
Julie has been married to Jeff Kathan for almost 24 years. Together, they have 2 children - Brittni, 23, and Dayna, 21. Julie also helped raise Jeff’s oldest daughter, Brandee, 29. Just like with so many of us, the past few years have been an extreme financial strain. The Kathans were forced to file for Chapter 13 bankruptcy last year. On top of having to cope with the emotional trauma that comes with this prognosis, the Kathan family now faces a financial emergency due to Julie’s astronomical medical bills. Luckily, the Kathans have an incredible support system of family and friends who would like to help. They have set up this website for donations to offset the cost of Julie’s medical bills. If you would like to help, it’s easy to do. The Kathan family would like everyone to know the support they’ve received is truly touching, and they are forever grateful. Julie is in the fight of her life, but she’s loved by so many. Let’s join together and make her fight a little easier. Thank you!
